Suspects allegedly caught while perpetrating certain irregularities in the ongoing registration for the 2017 UTME have confessed – The suspects confessed to spending over N20m to construct a radio platform with which they hacked into JAMB’s registration portal.

Punch reports that the Spokesperson of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, Dr Fabian Benjamin, in a statement issued in Abuja on Saturday April 22, said: “These registration thieves deployed fake biometric capturing mechanisms and super-imposed registration slips just to satisfy the curiosity of innocent candidates that their registration was successful.“And on the day of examination, such candidates’ data would either be edited, or not found on the JAMB data base. “Such candidates would not be verified during the examination proper.”
our naija news gathered that Benjamin disclosed that the fraudsters were arrested variously in Oyo, Ogun and Maiduguri by officers and men of the NSCDC and brought to Abuja. During their interrogations in Abuja, Benjamin said, the suspects gave startling revelations of how they conducted their operations.
“While being paraded in the presence of the Commandant-General of NSCDC, Abdullahi Gana Mohamadu, the fraudsters confessed to numerous registration infractions that JAMB couldn’t imagine,” Benjamin said.

 

NSCDC Assistant Superintendent Corps 1 killed by unknown gunmen in Ado Ekiti Naija-News

Unknown gunmen on 19th of APRIL Wednesday killed an officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Ekiti State, SundayAfolabi, in Ado Ekiti.

According to our naija news crew the officer was in his middle 30s,He was an Assistant Superintendent Corps 1, He was shot dead by his assailants near the state headquarters of the corps on Ado-Afao Ekiti road around 3p.m.

An eye witness account said two men attacked him in his Toyota Camry 2015 model.

“The two men dragged him down from his car and shot him in the back and leg while he was trying to flee the scene. He died from shortage of blood because there was no one to help him.”

It was learnt that his service pistol was taken away by the assailants who abandoned his car in the bushy path.

The NSCDC spokesman,i, Tolu Afolabi confirmed the killing to reporters on Thursday.

He said investigation had been launched into the incident in a bid to unmask the killers of the officer.
Until his death, the late Afolabi was the Head of Unit, Intelligence and Investigation, of the NSCDC.
